Default Experiencing bad transmission problems

Just picked up my 2012 FX2 145". This problems acures about 65% of the time. My transmission doesn't always shift to the appropriate gears. At low speeds, approximately 5-10 mph, it will up shift to 5th gear for no reason. My lcd display in my gauge cluster and my speedometer stops functioning when this happens. Also sometimes it won't upshift out of 1st gear while I'm accelerating.

I'm very worried about this problem because it has the potential to cause an accident, does anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be?

Thanks!

I have an issue with my 2013 not liking the shift from 3rd to 4th gear. I have heard its a programming issue that can be corrected by the dealer. Maybe yours can easily be fixed also?

I've got that very same issue...and thus far the dealer's not done squat for it. "Characteristic of the truck" and all that. *sigh*

1st to 5th or 2nd to 5th is not normal. Go to a different dealer if nothing has been done about it IMO

Actually, If you stand hard on the throttle, then lift your foot quickly over 40 mph, the truck WILL go directly to 5th gear and YES that is NORMAL.

Welcome to the forum, Xyrinexe. I'm Crystal, the Ford Service rep here. How many miles are on your truck? I'll see what I can do to help.

Hello! I contacted my local dealer and I'm still under warranty, I set up an appointment to get it checked out. The truck has around 50567 miles. The truck will shift properly about half the time, the other half it will up shift to 5th gear around 5-10 mph instead of shifting into second. I noticed that when it happens, my speedometer and my lcd panel in my gauge cluster stop functioning. It will eventually display the wrench symbol. The only way to fix it will to turn off the truck and restart. When it works properly, everything is good, but every time I turn off the truck I run the risk of the problem repeating. And more recently it sometimes won't shift out of first, which I'm guessing its related to the overall issue.

Also another problem is at 70-75 mph, the whole vehicle vibrates and shacks. I already got my wheels weighted and balanced, that helped nothing. I did a lot of research about this problem and a lot of people are experiencing the same issue, and it doesn't seem that ford has a fix for it.
