Default exhaust diameter question

I'm contemplating changing the exhaust out of my 2010 FX4 and will probably go with the Magnaflow SIDO straight out the back option. My question is this, if the Magnaflow system is 3" and the y pipe is more or less 3" but the pipe from the y-pipe flange to the muffler is 2.5", is it worth changing out that piece as well to 3"?

Most kits seem to connect at the crimped connection, not the bolted flange so there would still be about 3' of 2.5" pipe. Is it better to leave the section of 2.5" pipe in for low end torque or is it better to replace it with a chunk of 3"?

Default

I have 3" all the way to my SIDO muffler with dual 2.5" after that of course. I'm not sure how much, if any, difference there would be. However, if the SIDO muffler has 3" in, then I would take advantage of that with 3" pipe.
