Default Exhaust

Hello everyone has anyone done just a cut out of the mufflfer on a 2011 F150 5.0L and just put a performance muffler in its place. I have a bit of a budget but i want some more noise when i put my foot into it.

You could always chop off the cats or run it straight piped, but without the cats you run the risk of a check engine light and not passing inspection. The less piping, the more noise as well.

There's a guy on YouTube that put an electronic "cut-out" on his 09, http://www.youtube.com/user/TrSPr#p/a/u/2/_ECVMuS37RM

But that still costs some Washingtons for parts and install so if it's all about being "frugal" it would still cost the same or less just to have a shop swap out the muffler.

Exactly what "performance" are you trying to unleash with a new exhaust? I'm pretty sure the Ford engineers and engine builders have determined that their pipes and parts are matched to the engine's requirements. If its pure noise and rumble, then try a different muffler (Flowmaster or Borla) and/or a SIDO from the same.

Don't expect any torque/HP improvements from a bolt on.

P.S. I added a Borla set. Love the sound.
