To everyone who says their 5.0 "DOESNT" knock or tick. Let us see and hear yours.
Obviously some of us have this knock and tick problem with our 5.0's.
Every thread that gets posted shows videos of the knock and tick but there are also many responses from folks that say theirs is perfect, no knocks no ticking.
I ask all of you with the good 5.0 PLEASE post some videos, let us hear what a "Normal" 5.0 sounds like. I think it would be a huge help to us , maybe after hearing your "Normal" ones we might say hey maybe ares arent as bad as we thought, or maybe we will have even more proof that ares are bad and something we need to pursue even more. Ive been to the dealerships listening but the ticking and the knocking doesnt happen until there are some miles on the motor so real world comparisons can only come you folks.
Give us something to compare to.

I thought I was going to be able to provide a non ticking 5.0 video for you but when I went to shoot the video I deff heard some ticking. Can't hear it much in beginning when I am on driver side. I move to passenger side and hear a fast paced ticking. Almost sounds like a pulley or something. I've had the truck over a year and never noticed this until now. Either way, if I had to put my trust in the longevity of all the engine options offered for the F150, it would be the 5.0 for sure.

Fast Driver Slow Truck
mine makes some ticks and has a distinct knocking sound that is loudest between the center console and lower dash in the truck but cannot be heard outside the truck(I think it resonates in the dash) BUT I think its the exhaust pulses in the Y pipe since I can't hear it at all when listening against the engine block w/ a scope.
Ticks are almost inaudible on the driveway and I can only hear them at a drive thru window on very cold day. I think the ticks are the cam phasers/timing chain. I'll gladly get some videos of it as I think its one of the quiet ones, friends aren't hearing what I hear.

all engines tick to some degree. between the injectors and the overhead cams it's just going to tick. a cell phone video really isn't going to give a good gauge on whether the ticking is bad or not.

I really need to stop opening these threads before y'all get me paranoid. I've had mine less than a week, had 10 miles on it, and it's had some sort of tick from the get go. Whether it's the injectors or cams, or a woodpecker I have no idea.
Compared to my old mechanical Cummins, it's just weird being able to hear myself think.

here is mine listen to the whole thing, the knock can be heard even more toward the end of video from engine comp. its definitely dominant on the passenger side.
Im not talking about the injectors I know what they are and their sound.
I would like to hear the ones that say theirs dont knock or tick, Id like to compare theirs to mine

I'm not a mechanic, but it sure sounds like the lower end, like a rod knocking. I bought my Mustang gt with a 4.6 new in 2004 and it had the same type noise. Didn't hear it everyday, but enough for concern so I brought it in and they found nothing wrong. Well, 112,000 on the car now and running great.

Mine has a light tick, but it sounds normal to me.I honestly believe the more you listen for the tick, the more you tend to worry. My Subaru used to tick much louder it drove me crazy the first couple of months. Realized the tick was considered normal in a flat four motor.

I've had 5 ford trucks in a row now. They all had different motors. My wife has a new taurus sho. My family is full of fords. They ALL tick. I've accepted the fact my fords tick. It is what it is. I have a 3/4 ton chevy work truck that ticks so bad it makes the fords sound like a Prius.
