Default Error P0016 Cranksfaft position sensor code (ecobooost)

Hi guys, I'm confident this isn't on here in this generation of ford. I've seen numerous results on the 97-03's but nothing for an ecobooost specific to this code. I was thinking inter cooler but may be something else.

My 2012 ecobooost recently gave me the CEL and the code reader read error P0016 - crankshaft position sensor.

We cleared it, and a day later its back on - same code. So the sensor had probably failed. (It was -45 degrees Celsius the other night and outside at the lake all night)

The bigger issue now is that my truck is being a bitch. If I'm at 70 and I set my cruise up to 80 the cruise takes nearly thirty seconds to accelerate.

If I accelerate on the pedal it consistently downshifts to maintain speed on the smallest incline, and to actually accelerate I have to have my pedal 3/4 of the way to the floor - then it GOES.

And there's no in between.

Is this a limp mode of some sort as a result of the CEL?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

Timing chain. See the links in my signature. Start searching for timing chain/phasers on this website or youtube. You'll get 100's of hits back. Hopefully you're under warranty because it's not a cheap repair.

There is a timing chain tsb that uses the P0016 code as the basis of it. And the phaser tsb also covers the timing chain. If I was you I would push to get the phaser and timing chain tsb done at that mileage. Especially if you have warranty.
