IDS is at an unbelievable cost point for one time use. If you buy it, you will need to make use of it many times to pay for it, start up cost is over $2,500.00. I have it so I know what I'm saying.

However, there is another method that is virtually cost free to do the same job (programming wise) It's called FORScan, the software is free and all you need is a Windows laptop/tablet and a $20 usb or Bluetooth OBDII adapter to do the programming your self. Here's a link to the base information required. https://www.f150forum.com/f38/forsca...ations-349018/

The rest of the replacement is simple mechanical anyone good with a wrench can do, and of course getting a front end alignment after.

The computer interface port is under the dash below the steering column, suggest you follow the link I posted before and read, and when you think you've read enough that your eyes begin to bleed, grab a Kleenex, wipe and continue reading. The last thing you want to do is dive head first into your trucks programming blindly, unless you want a 7000lb yard ornament.

Do you know what parameters need to be changed/reset to program the new EPAS? I will most likely be doing this install soon, as well.

From what i got you go into the forscan app prior to replacing steering and save the (as built) data for the steering control module then after replacing steering you go back and re load that saved information and you should be good to go! Of course an alignment is needed!
