Default EPAS Failure

I have a 2011 Supercrew with the 5.0 but I have been having major steering problems since last week. There are no codes, warnings. But the steering is normal if I’m switching lanes but if I’m making a turn left or right it’s very very difficult. If I turn the wheel more than 45 degrees it will stick and I need two hands to correct it. Where should I start? I haven’t taken it to the stealership or anything but this is very frustrating. Any help would be great!!!!

Check the u-joints in the intermediate shaft for binding as well.

Buy a rack off of Rock auto and swap it out. You'll need forscan to program it.

If the steering wheel is feeling stuck or won't return after turning even just a bit, it is the gear(s) inside the epas box. Had it replaced on my old 2011 under warranty when i had it. I was turning left around at an intersection and steering wheel wouldn't go back to straight, nearly drove into someone. Ford said gear was cracked inside.

Update: Issue comes and goes. Still not sure what’s going on. When it happens steering wheel just sticks but I’m able to correct the wheel after a turn.

that what was happening to mine. I could turn wheel back to original position but it started to become frequent. Have it looked at asap. Don't want it to lock up and you end up turning into a car or person crossing the street.

Only one solution, replace the rack.

It is not a serviceable item.
