Default Engine Swap - Curiousity

was wondering how much it would cost and what would be needed to do an engine swap. Loving my eco so far, but always wondered what it would take if I wanted to swap for a 5.0 or even a 6.2L. Not sure what would be needed in terms of transfer case, transmission, etc...I always see the engines for sale on ebay so it got me wondering.

It's more financially intelligent to trade it. These trucks aren't an easy swap like a 305 to a 350 in an old Chev. I can't imagine the cost!

Forget about switching anything out to the 6.2, everything is different including the steering system. Bolting one of the other motors in could be done but getting it to work would be a whole different story.

Anything is possible with enough money...

Having said that, I agree with Hardcore. Your best bet is to sell or trade your truck for one with the motor that you want. A LOT easier and a LOT cheaper.

Why would you want to though? For a lot less you could modify the 3.5 and run circles around both motors.

...but if you were going to do it the cheapest way would be to buy a wrecked one so you would get everything you need at one time.

sounds like the consensus would be trade or sell...though I'm thinking mods would be best ...try to get everything I can out of her and see what she can do

i love the eco...haven't broken her in much, a little under 4k miles, so my mpg isn't great...still better than my old Trailblazer SS. the exhaust note...well...

Only reason I may not go for a Eco when it's time is exhaust note. But you're best off modding it up, and seeing how you like it. Recommend a cat delete, and raptor exhaust. Sounds wicked on EB

I remember seeing a post on here about a guy getting a warranty eco long block replaced at the dealer and seeing the bill around 12K, and thats exact engine for engine, so it wouldn't be worth it for your case, unless you have lots of bucks, and then I have a 5.0 to sell you....

Waste of time/money. Trade it for a 5.0/6.2.

Then stick a big blower on said 5.0/6.2
