all funny shifts on my truck are now gone. I had a slipping feel, a clunk when shifting into 1st and a weird hesitation when leaving a stop for a while, but it seemed to have totally cleared. Spoke to my dealer about it and they said they noticed the same thing, but their demo vehicles all cleared as mine has. I also too their FX4 out for a spin to compare and it was even better. I have about 2000km (~1200miles) on my truck and the demo have about 5000km (~3000miles).

Is this problem just in the 4X4 models?

We noticed the same type of shifting in our new 09, which has less than 900 miles on it. DH is calling the dearler today but it sounds like it's not an isolated event. Not sure if that's good or bad at this point yet.

I know its not NORMAL when the passenger person looks over at me when it happens, and says... what the hell was that? my truck was made in Dearborn, Michigan.

I posted a while ago about an early '09 XLT I drove for a week down to SC from MD and back. I observed the 1-2 shift problem and "slippage" sensations you all are describing. The truck was a 4.6 crew 4x4 with the 6spd. I was ready to show my wife this issue upon my return (truck had 10 miles on it when I picked it up and over 1,200 miles upon my return), but the problem had vanished. Anyone not had it vanish? The tranny is brand new for Ford.... I am always weary of new applications until they are tested in the real world...

I now have 2300 miles and still getting this slippage at low speeds. just going down the road in town and between 1-2, and 2 -3 or from 4-3 or 3-2, it still occassionally happens.

I believe the tranny is the same one that's been in the Expedition since 2007, so it's not exactly untested. They may have changed the programming for the 09 F150, and maybe that's what needs to get sorted out.

Good luck, keep us updated as to whether it goes away on it's own or not.
