Default Engine Rev

Hello everyone,

Ive got a 2011 F150 Fx4 5.0. Just looking for a little reassurance.......Yesterday I leaned into the throttle hard while the roads were a little snowy. and the engine rev'ed at 5500 for a few seconds while the truck tried to gain traction. I was in automatic not manual overide.......it was 0 degrees C (32F) and I had let the truck warm up idling for about 5 minutes before getting on the gas......I rarely if ever abuse my vehicles - could I have casued any damage?? everything seems good - just curious as to how well the engine is protected from over reving ........

thanks

It's fine. The rev limiter that Ford imposes, is just that..a limiter. It is there so that you reach it before you get to a rev that would damage anything.

It was only 5500... it will rev that high when you hold the gas pedal to the floor. No problem.

It's fine. No damage to be done from reving a cold engine to those revs.

Man I would get it to the dealership pretty quick! You may have blown out the headlight washer fluid gaskets!

Just kidding man..Ford designed the motor to be able to rev that high. No harm done..

I hit that at least every day, and have in every car I've owned. I would do it more often if I were you, it's fun.
