Default Electric Transmission problems

I have a 2014 with the 6 speed transmission. Every once and a while, the trans goes bonkers. I have had it to the dealer for the first recall two years ago. I had it at the dealer in February for the second recall. Now the problem comes up every once and a while. If I just drive on the expressway, no problems generally. For the last two weeks, no problem. Then the other day, the trans acted up and stayed in maybe second gear. I pulled over, turn off the engine and waited a few moments. Then there was no problem. A few weeks ago, the trans acted up, a wrench symbol appeared on the dash. Again, I pulled over and turned off the engine and waited. The other thing that I have noticed is the shift lights with the gear numbers does not appear on the dash anymore. Just who out there has some answers about this transmission? There has to be some answers. I talked to the servce folks at another dealer and there are no real answers. Who is the trans expert in the Midwest that knows about these 6-speed transmission? I would love to talk to you. And what about changing the oil? I can't see a drain plug. There is no dip-stick? What is the magic here. Hope to hear from someone.

teamdan45@gmail.com ... trans acted up...
All symptoms of the (known) transmission leadframe problem. *And as of todate, the part is viturally unattainable due to the supply chain crisis.

... the shift lights with the gear numbers does not appear on the dash anymore...
Somewhere along the line the + / - button on the gear shift lever was bumped... (re) -press- it.

... can't see a drain plug...
-correct- Hasn't been one for eons. A fluid change will require a pan-drop. *There are after-market pans that have them, however, the DORMAN's have drain-plug/gasket issues. Google [ site:f150forum.com dorman transmission pan ]

... no dip-stick...
There is a dip stick (of sorts)...

.
PA (Performance Automatic) offers a dip stick...

Check simple stuff 1st. I've had mice chew insulation off wires which would cause a short when the exposed wire touched something metal and resulted in wonky transmission issues. When not shorted it worked fine. I was getting codes indicating that the transmission needed to be replaced. A little shrink wrap on the exposed wire saved me a lot of money.

Which 'recall' did you have? They're not named first and second.

If i have to guess, which i do because we don't have any information about your truck, it sounds like you had the reprogram, followed by the leadframe replacement.

If it was that recently done, take it back, the fact you got a code/check light is good, so they have something to scan and re-fix their work which should be warrantied.

The "recall" was a software update, and was done twice, supposedly the first version didn't work correctly.
The second does appear to work correctly.

In addition to the software patch, which was intended to prevent dropping into 1st gear at high speeds, which would be bad in multiple ways, the warranty was extended to 150,000 miles.
If you are under 150k and have had the wrench warning, you should have the code set in the pcm which they require for warranty coverage.

Long story short, you have classic symptoms of lead frame failure, and you should take it to a dealer if you're under 150k miles.

Mine failed at 168500, so I got boned on the warranty.

Without telling us what happened during the second recall, we can't say, they may already have had the leadframe replaced.
