I found two places that repair these modules My Airbags in Ga, and Module Repair Pro in Ca. My Airbags is well reviewed, yet just as was about to pull the trigger on mine they doubled there prices. Module Repair Pro has a couple of bad reviews, yet I believe it was mostly customer service complaints rather than quality of work. I can understand why. When I talked to the guy on the phone, he was a grumpy old codger but he answered my questions and repaired my module. The process took 4 days including shipping (I did overnight shipping) You pay for shipping to the shop, return shipping is included in the cost. Note that you will get mixed messages about driving the truck with the module removed. I chose not to. With the module removed, it will throw dozens of other codes and I didn't want to chance it.
Module Repair Pro seems to be a quality shop and they are about 1 hour from me. Looks like they charge $150 for the repair/ rebuild which is a great price compared to buying new! Does the ABS module need to be programmed or flashed when I reinstall it?

No, if you go the "repair" route no programming or flash is required. It will be plug and play.

Awesome. Sure seems like this is the best route to go! Any tips or suggestions you can think of? Besides disconnecting the battery

Also, can the trunk be driven while the ABS module is being repaired?

Ok, update here and more issues. I was able to reinstall the repaired ABS module yesterday. I had it repaired by Module Repair Pro. Install was pretty simple and no issues.

Once I was done, I started the truck and cleared the codes. Everything seemed fine, no more codes and no more lights on the dash. A couple hours later I was walking by the truck and heard the ABS pump constantly running/ making a humming noise (while the truck was not running). I started the truck up again and dash lights were on (ABS, emergency brake, and traction control), and two codes were showing. C1300 and B1342. Did they not repair the ABS module?

I know this a PITA, but I would send the module back to MRP. Their work is warrantied C1300 is the code I had. In the meantime, you can remove fuse 47 to prevent the motor from running. Note that your original code indicated the motor had failed. We now know that it hasn't. You heard it running right? This suggests to me that you still have a problem with the module.

sorry to piggyback, but i have some questions about the PCM in my Truck that i haven't been able to get an answer to.

I have a 2000 F-150 4x4 5.4L
The firewall grounding strap rubbed through the #4 ignition coil connector ground wire causing the #4 Coil and the #30 fuse to burn out.
The Coil, connector and fuse have been replaced, and the truck runs great, very smooth,
The problem is that my scan tool will no longer link with the PCM. The scan tool works fine on other vehicles, but on this truck it has power but fails to link.
I have taken the truck to AutoZone and Oreillys to see if their scan tools will link and they do,
They get a reading of p1000 - monitors not ready, and another code for airbag sensor not responding.
There is no check engine light on, but the check engine light does work.
I have noticed that since this short, my remote entry does not work about 20% of the time requiring me to use the drivers side keypad to unlockand lock the doors.
I'm not quite sure yet due to in town driving, but it seems that perhaps my fuel economy is now slightly off.
I have driven this vehicle about 400 miles in the past week trying to reset the sensors, but when i take it to oreillys, they still get the same p1000 and airbag code, and again, this airbag code is not causing the check engine light to come on.

Is there any diagnostic i can do to determine why my scanner will no longer link to the PCM, and why the sensors in this truck will not reset?
If it is the PCM going bad, what is a reputable PCM repairer I can send this unit to?

Any help or suggestions you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Is there a reset in my2000? In 2013, you can reset computers by unhooking the battery for 15 minutes. If you have something like that, try it. Otherwise, it sounds like whatever computer controls the OBD interface is dying.

Also, we have a forum dedicated to your model year. You may find better answers in that forum rather than this one, which is dedicated to 2009-2014 trucks.

Okay, I'll head on over to that forum.
