I better either get rid on mine once it is out of warranty or buy the extended one cause at my age I can't afford to drop that kind of money into a truck! Pretty bad a chain is going in 50g's and even in your case at 75... they should be lasting at least 100g's.

Buy the extended warranty soon because at 75k I looked into one and it was cheaper to pay for the repair!

So just went by the dealer and the service manager said the chain doesn't need to be replaced and that they are just replacing the tensioner and guides.

That doesn't surprise me. The dealer doesn't diagnose anything anymore. They just report their findings to Fordtech and Ford makes the decisions. For whatever reason, Fordtech doesn't have the timing chain as the problem. They have to replace the wrong part first and then tear the engine apart a second time to replace the defective chain. It's under warranty and I'm not a share holder so I guess I really shouldn't care. Just make sure it goes back in for the chain before the warranty runs out.

No Kidding!

Lets hop in his case it IS just the tensioner!

If it's not making the noise after they do this there's really nothing I can do? I guess if it still makes the noise after they replace the tensioner they will have to tear it apart again. What also makes me mad is that ford won't pay for a rental... It's not my fault your part failed, why should I have to pay for the rental?

Get in touch with the Fordcustomerservice lady on this Forum. They will pay for your rental. They offered to pay for a Uhaul rental so I could go snowmobiling! It'll probably be a rental car, but it's better than walking.

I really can't complain for the way I was treated. Yes, no rental car was provided by the dealer. However, I was out of warranty and they could have stuck me with a $3,500 repair bill. The amount I ended up paying was 1/5 that. For being out of warranty, I was very happy.
