1. No ethanol sensor
2. No capable fuel system.

This * may* change in 2017 with the revised EB with a dual fuel system ( Direct and port ). Won't know until it hits the streets.

So, for now, stock - it's an E30 tune or an aftermarket fuel system.

I'm not saying we can run e85 in a ecoboost, because you can't. E85 is a great high performance fuel though with really no downside to it. Execpt a loss in fuel mileage of course.

Depending on the tuning it can be hard to start in the winter. It seperates quickly, causing issue if you have the same tank of e after a long time. etc etc

My 2015 Owners Manual, 3.5 Eco says no E-85.

These trucks are getting too expensive to Experiment.
Good Luck with the E-85

cmbezln you're right, it can be hard to start in the winter. The winter blend is e70 for easier startup. I don't really know what you mean by " it seperates quickly" though. I never drain the fuel cell in my car, and it may sit for months in the winter without being ran. After sitting a long period like that it will fire right up and never miss a beat.

I don't think the ecoboost gets real good fuel mileage and e85 would make it that much worse. That could be why ford hasn't built it to run on e85. That's just my opinion though.

Yes but those are two minor things that could be taken care of when built/engineered. Gotta be another reason they've never been offered as flex fuel.

Not having an ethanol sensor would be a minor thing to take care of but the fuel system not being able to supply 30% more fuel to support E85 isn't a minor thing to take care of.

How hard would it be to to use injectors and a fuel pump to flow 30% more fuel? I'm not so sure about needing 30% more fuel either.

I've never upgraded a direct injection fuel system and I haven't seen any aftermarket kits to do so...so I'll wait for the experts to come up with a solution. I've been waiting 5 years so far.
