ECO GVWR vs 5.0L GVWR
I looked at and drove 2 similar 2013 trucks today. 5.0L with package 301A and Chrome package and the ECO had package 302A. The only difference is that the 302A package has the plus package and trailer tow brake controller.
The Ecoboost engine truck had a GVWR of 7200 lbs and a payload of 1400 lbs while the 5.0L had a GVWR of 7350 lbs and a payload of 1630 lbs. Both truck had a front axle rating of 3750 lbs and a rear axle rating of 3850 lbs. My 2010 5.4L truck has these same axle ratings and shares the 7200 lbs GVWR. Why does the 5.0L have a higher GVWR when mechanically, there's no difference to the Eco? |
hmmm... the guy who determined the GVWR must had been the same guy that didn't put a handle on the driver side to get in and out.
it's a good question, mike. |
I believe it is because the eco weighs more.

Mine and my brothers are the same way. My 5.0 is rated higher.
|
Or maybe the 5.0 weighs more and the 5.0 has more weight in the front so u can put more in the back. Kinda like a see - saw yanno lol my guess
|
My ecoboost is 7650 lbs. So you can get one with a higher GVWR of that is a problem.
|
Odd considering you can only get Max Tow with the Eco and the Eco has more torque.
