Default Easiest way to fix this

What's the easiest way to fix this rust on the rockers? Was thinking about wire wheeling it, but it feels kinda brittle. Should I buy new rockers ( both sides are like this, drivers side is worse. Since I moved from Michigan to Texas I'd like to clean it all up. Any info is appreciated

good god.. the horror. I don't think I have seen rust this bad. You should hit up ford, their corrosion warranty is 5 year unlimited mileage

Mine is a 2010. So I'm already past the 5 years anyways. That's how it looked after pulling the running boards

That sucks man. I don't think the wire wheel will take care of it. That cancer is hard to stop unless it's all cut out. Have you thought about trading it in? Leave that headache to someone else.

Can't. I got it last year and I'm upside down on it right now. Thought if I bought the panels or wire wheel it to clean it up I might be able to POR it. Seeing as I'm in a salt free state it would be slowed down tremendously

I was quoted in michigan around $400 a side to fix but not really sure what they were doing to it. Maybe a Ford Rep could chime in and see what they think?

Aluminum running boards?

$400 a side is really not too bad. But a pain on a truck you just bought sorry, but it's the Midwest, rust happens, and it looks ike that's where you truck came from.

It had the chrome tubular boards on it. Could tell they were installed after it started to rust. Might have made things worse. I took the boards off last fall
