Drivers side lower control question
Let me start off by saying I am new to this forum. My vehicle is a 2010 f-150 xlt 4x4 crew cab. I have had it for about a year now and everything has been great until last weekend.
The problem: I was driving down a dirt road with some small to medium sized rocks on it and one of those rocks hit the front frame mount that holds the lower control arm on the drivers side bending the metal back below the mounting bolt into the lower control arm bushing. Today, I was able to get it bent back enough so that it does not rub. The rubber bushing is now torn and I was wondering how much trouble it would be to replace it? Do I have to replace the whole lower control arm or does ford or someone else make the bushing? Is the bushing press fit? How much does the bushing or arm cost? I also need to drop the control arm so that I can bend the metal back to a better position.
I am used to working on older vehicles with solid axles, so please forgive my ignorance... Do I have to remove the whole control arm to replace the bushing? If so, will the coil over springs have to be compressed to get this back together? Is there anything I need to know? Your adivse is appreciated.
thanks,
JBC
