Down in southern indiana people go to the drive in all the time. It's a fun cheap date we even double date with some good friends. Get dinner, throw the frisbee then watch xmen and Spider-Man.... Double feature for $8 hell yeah! When we go we take a boom box and set it on the tailgate... Never have to worry about killing the truck battery

But yeah drive-in aside it blows you can't use your radio for anything else, guess I can appreciate my '03 just a little bit more now

^^^^^agreed.

It happened to us too. Portable radio next time. I wish there was an answer to this problem. I'm sure someone has rigged up something.

Another STUPID move by idiotic Automobile engineers. Don't they know that most people carry around portable car chargers in case the battery goes dead. HEY ENGINEERS, DON'T YOU KNOW YOU ARE OVER ENGINEERING OUR CARS TODAY. STOP IT!!

Not drive in, but back in the day it was not unusual to run the radio in dads car for more than 1.5-2 hrs without starting the car.....never killed the battery, but did steam up the windows

Can you not just leave the engine running?

Mine used almost a 1/4 tank of gas when I did that the last time at the drive in. Plus I had quite a bit of rumble from my truck even when it was idle. It was a pain.

I took my old Dakota to the drive ins all the time me and my girlfriend love going. Last year I took my new f150 to the drive ins and had the same issue as you op! I ended up starting my truck for the remainder of the movie, the people next to me didn't seem to mind but we could definitely hear my exhaust rumbling

Exactly.
There is one here in town that is packed every night. They even went as far as to add a second screen last year. Its not a bad deal, 8 bucks a person to watch two movies is cheap. Last time I went (not with current truck) I took a cooler so I didn't have to buy anything once there. I am not sure if they have changed anything with the sound, but the last time I was there, they had giant speakers so you didn't need to leave your radio on.
