Default Dreaded no crank

2011 XLT. Ok so I have been having an on and off problem with no crank. Turn key nothing happens. I checked all the usual suspects fuses and the wire harness by the passenger door. Everything seems ok. I do hear a click when I turn the key by the passenger side fuse panel? Can that be the starter or some sort of relay in the panel.

My first suspect would be the battery. How old is the battery and have you had it tested?

If you are talking about checking fuse 27, its not the fuse but the holder that starts to melt.

the engine does not turn over, if there was an issue with that fuse it would still turn over, correct?

Battery is new less than a month old. Tapped starter with hammer, nothing happened.

So, either a bad starter or the starter isn't getting any power or enough power. I'd start from there. Check for power and even clean the connections on the starter.

Fuse 27 runs the Fuel module and pump. So, it would still turn over even if that fuse blew.

12.5 volts on battery. Is that enough to start her? Also I am getting 2 codes.

Can't help with the codes but, I was referring to checking the voltage/power down at the starter to make sure that power or enough power was making to the starter itself.

Yes, 12 volts I would think would be enough assuming it is getting to the starter.

Have a way to test the starter?
