Default Door will not open

Extended cab F-150. Rear passenger door will not open. This morning I opened the door, loaded some stuff in , and shut it. Got in to drive off, message on dash says rear passenger door open. Got out, opened and reclosed door, door shut, message gone, took off. This afternoon, went to retrieve things out of the back, door will not open. It was cold this morning, below freezing, with some sleet and rain. At first I thought it might be frozen shut, but it got into the mid 40s, still won't open. I noticed when I pull on the handle I don't hear a click sound like I hear on the drivers side door. No sound at all. Handle moves, but nothing. I tried spraying some WD40 into the handle, thinking that might help, nothing. Any ideas?

I think people have managed to get the panel off from inside with it stuck shut. Then fix whatever is wrong. Not sure on a super cab, though.

Hard to be specific without the actual year in your post, but at least through 2013s it's usually the cheap plastic cam broken off from one or both cable ends. I have fixed these on my Supercabs many times over the years. All that needs to be done is pull the door cover off and fit new cams on the ends. You can order them in many places:
Amazon Amazon

If you search on YouTube for things like 'F150 Rear Door Cable Repair' there are a multitude of how to videos including how to get the door panel off with the door stuck shut so you can get the door open.

Once you get the door panel off, replace all of the plastic cams with aluminum ones. Based on my experience with a 2001 F150 I had for 15 years, if the doors are opened regularly eventually all of the plastic ones will break.

Had it happen on my supercab. The end of the cable (which has the metal ball) slips out of the spot on the handle for tension as the cable is slightly too long causing slack. Easy fix to pop the handle off with a few bolts, re-position and pop back in. I remember using some cable ties or something to hold it in place. Shouldn't be weather related.
Cheers

It's a 2012, and thanks for the post.
