Default does tuner effect longevity

New guy with an ecoboost, so bear with me. About to pull the trigger on a MPT tuner from american muscle. My '13 truck has 100,000 miles, will adding a tuner hurt the longevity of the engine? I plan on at least 200k out of this motor and want to make it last as long as possible. Thanks!

Depends on how far you go. IMHO, a normal tune just takes out the margin they built in for sloppy owners; no more cheap gas or missed maintenance and you'll be fine. Start building big power and I can't see how it wouldn't be pushing the internals.

i just wanted a 93 daily/tow, 87 daily/tow, and 87 economy. Not really interested in the race tune. I would likely use the 87 daily the most and rarely user the 93 tune. I am more interested in throttle response and transmission adjustments than power. I'm use to old-school cable throttle and this drive-by-wire stuff is hard to get use to.

Check with Ecoboost owners specifically for sure. Tunes can bring out even more power in forced induction engines.

Yes, I have a 99 F150, but I also have a 2013 Focus ST that has a factory turbo 2 liter putting out 252 hp and 270 ft-lb. It is relatively easy to tune them to 270 hp and 300-310 lb-ft with better drivability and reliability. Get up into 3 hp per ci, 350 hp and there are compromises.

Likewise, I think 350 to 370 on a 2.7 (2.25 hp per ci) should be okay, above that your results may vary
