Disappearing Chrome...
Bead blasting is a process exactly like sand blasting, but the use of tiny plastic beads are used instead of sand. Not as harsh of a media. Sandblasting would destroy the grille itself by cutting thru, pitting the plastic or cutting large holes in the grille. If you painted directly over chrome, it will soon start to peel. Good luck!

Did you strip the chrome off your bumpers? Or painted over the chrome? I plan to get my running boards Line-X 'ed next, once I get some funds saved up, And then only the bumpers are left. My friend says painting over chrome won't last and stripping them is a royal pain in the back side. So I am curious what you did to yours.
I paint for a living so I had someone at the shop sandblast the bumpers then refinished them. The grille I painted over the chrome and its going through its second Canadian winter (lots if snow ice sand and salt) and no problems at all. It's all about prep and the proper adhesion promoter and sealer.
I have a 2011 Lariat Screw, I have really never been a fan of lots of chrome on a truck. So I made a decision to start making it disappear little by little...this is my latest addition...

Pic 3 is the new purchase after my real good buddy, who owns a paint and body shop, bead blasted all the chrome off and painted to match my truck ( Tri coat Titanium)
Pics 4, 5, 6, 7 are after installed!
Any thoughts?
