Just changed mine with 28k on the clock. It was slightly better than the one pictured.

Read this thread a couple days ago and it reminded me to change the air filter.
Got a free oil change at the deAler but that's all they did. So need one.

Doesn't look bad. Choice was only STP today (don't want k&n) so grabbed it.
My autozone said they sent back all the frams for recall ???!

Didn't want to start another thread so my question is

The STP is almost half the thickness of the fram I pulled out. Is that cool?

My stock Ht 4x4 barely clears the garage door. Lol

As far as the air box. It says in the owner manual to remove the sensor wire and pipe side. Was super easy going back in like I thought but read a few comments otherwise.
Need to do my cabin I'm sure.

Exclamation

Allquad ... Need to do my cabin I'm sure.
If you have a gen'12 F-150 (2009-2014) there is no cabin air filter.

If you have heated/cooled seats there are filters that can be changed. Recommended service interval is 30,000 miles. *.owner's manual for how-to details.
.

(owner's manual) Don't have one -OR- would like a digital, searchable desktop document?

Sweet thanks joe!
Yeah had no idea. Hadn't look in the manual for the cabin filter yet. Guess I wouldn't have found it. Lol.

No ac/ heated seats so I'm cool then. Have the pdf version saved and have the original manual. Thanks for that too!

I know it?? I almost felt compelled to state, that I don't work for a paving company...or at a coal plant.
I don't get it. Just north of Boston suburban driving. Nothing crazy. Hasn't even seen a dirt road yet.
Still getting a consistent 16 mpg's around town.
I'm kicking my myself, for neglecting it so long.

I changed my Ecoboost's air filter at 50k and 100k. As someone who sold and applied Donaldson filtration on ag and construction equipment, a dirty LOOKING filter doesn't mean its time to replace it.

Actually, I prefer a surface layer on my air filters. They filter out fine particulate contamination (which is what really wears an engine's cylinder walls) better than a new filter. I only use Wix filters on my engines, much better dirt holding and filtration efficiency vs. Fram.

I also live and drive in Iowa/midwest. Must be a good sign we have clean air compared to other areas of the US if we can run 50k between filter changes! My lungs are happy!

I bought my fx4 with a cold air intake already installed by previous owner. After reading so much about stick intakes being the best and after markets decreasing mileage, I think I might try to find a stock air intake. I like the added growl my truck has but not crazy about the 12.5 mpg city and 15 mpg highway. Guess it's worth a shot to see if the stock intake will improve mileage...

I change my filter every October. Never too dirty but drive about 60,000 kn per year, so its a good time to change out.

I know one thing...I'm going to periodically check it every 3500 miles, to see if the black was just a fluke of some kind.
