Default Did you Lift Level Your Truck for :

My question is how many of you guys leveled /Lifted your truck for purely cosmetic reasons (Curb Hopper never sees the dirt ) Verses the need to level/Lift due to usage of the truck .
Myself , I need the truck to have as much clearance as I can afford to pay for because I use my truck Off road .... I dont need to get high centered trying to put my boat in the river , I use to be able to put my boat in the river anywhere I wanted .. with this newer truck due to not having the funds for a 6"lift and bigger tires 35's ... Im going to be limited which sucks ... Pics tell the story I went from The 02 screw with 6.5" Fabtech and 35's to a Stock 2013 that is gonna be leveled instead , and in the future some bigger tires ( Tires have gotten stupid expensive over the last few years ) Might not be as big an issue this year due to the Drought in Ca ....

I leveled my 2011 XLT because I didn't like the old man stance it had. It was also the first truck I've owned newer than a decade old and worth putting some money into.

I leveled to eliminate the rake. It bugs me that people think just lifting the truck with a +1 size tire will make a huge difference off road. Not necessarily. Bigger tires give the clearance, and the lift is to accommodate the larger tire. Personally, Ive sank my truck to the bumpers in mud on stock 17" wheels and 265/70/17 Rugged Terrain tires (love them btw) and the truck swam just fine. My advice is to use your truck the way you intend and if the level doesnt get the job done, THEN jack er' up and use big tires.

Great points. That is what I tell people too. I only put a 2 inch level on my truck and went from 275x65R18s to 295x70R18s. I see this as a 3.5 inch lift though because my front wouldn't have cleared what my back could. With the tires size and the lift I am just at 3.5 inches taller in the front and about .5 in the back. Gives me a lot more clearance.

You guys that level, do you ever haul/tow anything?

I'm guessing leveling kind of limits the capabilities?

Before this forum I was un-aware of the practice of 'leveling' a truck haha.

Trucks use to come off the factory line somewhat level compared to the horrible rake that Ford has now , I agree they look almost as bad a Tundra without the lift /level on them . As for leveling kit limiting capabuilties .... Well yes and No ... Spacers will limit your wheel travel , coil overs wont limit wheel travel ... If your off road a lot or do serious 4 wheelen you dont want the spacer Kit IMO ... What I need is clearance from the ground to the axle , the only way to do that is with taller tires ... You have to make room to accommodate them ... the level does that .. If they came level from the Factory , the larger tire would fit with little or no modifications ...

I leveled my truck just for the looks of it and when I put bigger tires on it. I hate to see a 4x4 with a low front end. I get 15.5 mpg in my 5.0 in the city.
