dieselhunter44 ... Putting a cleaner into the gas tank on a DI engine won't do a thing to the intake valves, since the fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion chamber. Not saying it wouldn't clean the combustion chamber a little. It just has a greater effect on port-injected engine where the fuel comes into direct contact with the intake valves
The routine of a SeaFoam treatment sucked thru the EGR hose -or- the BG intake system cleaner addresses this.

Has anyone done this on an ecoboost or any other turbo engine? I've seafoamed an older saturn which was naturally aspirated, but i'd be afraid to mess up my ecoboost.

The only concerns I've seen were raised by a concern troll on one of the other forums, who heard from a BG rep that the fueling system on the EcoBoost may be prone to carbon deposition. Hmm, a representative for a fuel additive company saying there could be a problem carbon buildups? Don't tell me, the only way to solve this is with BG fuel system additives and treatments every 10,000 miles?

Sorry, but until I see one case of this actually happening in real life I will continue to think its been blown way out of proportion. Yes, it happened on some of Audi's high performance RS engines but I have not seen many examples other than that in the wild. Even in the case of the RS4, which is about the worst I've heard of, it only required cleaning every 12,000 miles, which was about $1000 each time at the Audi dealership. On a car like that, that is not uncommon for yearly routine maintenance.

I'd say the only special care the EcoBoost requires is to not put crappy generic brand gas in it, but you shouldn't put that stuff in any car so I would say it's not unique.

BG is a brand name like STP, they make additives and cleaners. It is a good product.
