Default Depreciation!

Last April I bought a 2012 FX2 with an ecoboost. Best truck I ever owned until last week when the shuddering power loss started. I took it to the dealer today and they put in the deflector plate and flashed the PCM which did nothing. Truck runs terrible and from what I've read Ford has no idea how to fix it. I'm thiking of trading it because frankly the thing is dangerous! Checked with two dealerships and they are only willing to give me 29k for a truck that was originally 43k though I paid a lot less for it. What gives?

1. Sticker doesn't mean a damn thing; it's an illusion. A vehicle's real depreciation is actual purchase price minus actual sale price.

2. The highest percentage of vehicle depreciation occurs in the first year.

3. You prob paid around $33k so with $29k potential sale price, you're only out $4k. So roughly you paid $334 per month for your truck's services for a year.

that sounds about normal....the SECOND you drive a brand new vehicle off the lot the value drops anywhere from 15-30% because its considered used....thats why it really doesnt make sense anymore to buy a new vehicle...

It all depends on the situation. The depreciation Wouldn't be an issue if the truck was running properly and you weren't thinking of trading it in. Sucks that your truck is screwed up. This seems like Ford should be doing more to make situations like these right.

Don't forget that the dealer is not going to give you the trade value that you expe- they want to make some money when they sell your truck. Thay can't give you $32-35,000 when, with rebates, someone can get a brand new truck with littl or no miles. T hey say that, on average, a vehicle depreciates by 50% the first year. You need to look into the Lemon Law- see how fast Ford repairs it then. They will not want to buy it back which is probably whay would happen in your case given that they "can't fix it".

I brought the truck back to the dealership this morning for fix number 2. If it breaks again I'll lemon law it but mine seems to be one of the bad batch trucks. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
