Default Defroster Issues

Hi all

2013 XLT. I am having a bitch of a time getting my windows to thaw in this snow. I let the truck warm up, go to work and it ices and fogs up bad. Not sure if anyone else had an issue or not. It seems like it takes forever if at all to clear the windows.

Thanks

Your recirc button should be off or you are bypassing the humidification removal process of the A/C system when defrosting. That uses the moist air in the cab to defrost and it will fog up.
Short of that I know the Edge had a TSB for this problem (TSB 14-0048) and the Climate control Module needs to be re-programmed using IDS 89.03 or higher. That solved their issue.

Have you cleaned the truck off. Snow where the outside air comes in will also make this happen.

Just had this problem tonight. I haven't cleaned the area outside the truck beneath the windshield but. I couldn't get any air to blow when the defroster was turned on. Sounded like it was blowing into a shut door. However when I hit the recirculation button and any other air setting it blows hot air. I haven't had this problem untill now also.

If you are getting no air to blow with the defrost on[ Recirc button -OFF] (like its blowing against something shut or sounds like a blockage) it might likely be your blend door or the actuator motor is not functioning properly to allow outside air into the system. The recirc air button bypasses the outside air and pulls air from the cab and the defrost will work(recirculating cab air)...but it will be moist air and may cause fogging.
