does it HAVE to be two separate coded keys or can a clone work. Not nearly as pricey as the stealership and if it needs to be 2 then rather take it to locksmith for WAY less.

Yeah it sucks but it also tells me something about your truck.

It was likely a repo.

Not a bad thing, just they couldn't get back all the keys.

Yes it MUST BE two separate coded keys. The key cut makes no difference, the chip inside needs to be programmed to talk to the onboard antitheft system.

lock smith it then. they would be able to code it for half the price. At least the ones around me can do it. Ran into the same issue when I bought my 09. Dealership (was a leasing lot vs. ford) paid for my new key and when looking into it locksmith was cheaper than Ford.

Yeah there can be all sorts of scenarios, repo, trade in from absent minded owner, lease rental, etc......

But in the end you need two programmed keys how ever you obtain them.

I can program keys my self.

Maybe, but not necessarily. I've traded before and have never been asked for both keys, and have bought a few used with only one key. Never know though, the Carfax said 1 owner for 5 months
