Default Dealer estimate to replace spark plugs, EB. What's reasonable?

After breaking a plug off in my '05 (at 45k, just for fun, back in '07.......before the current versions of the extractor tools existed, I got it out....took all weekend....put another 70k on it after that...) anyway, back then I told myself I wasn't ever changing a plug again unless the motor needed it. Feels like my EB needs it, 44k on it. If I try to load it just right at 3800-4000 rpms, she sputters. It'll misfire 4-5x, then clear out, rev it past 4500 and it won't do it at all. Runs fine. Called my dealer yesterday just to ask what they'd get to do the job, I'm busy enough as it is, but for the $270, plus tax, that they quoted me.....looks like I'll be doing it sometime. 2.2 hrs they told me, and $8.60 a plug x6. YouTube says it's a 45 min job. Opinion? FYI....I've never paid anybody to change a plug before and I use to have the big plug hating 351s and 460s too.

Do it yourself. 30-45min seems right. I did mine, probably one of the easiest vehicles I have. Depending on where you live, in the states you can get the plugs dirt cheap from online stores. In canada after shipping you might as well buy it at the dealer.

If you are a little handy and have a few tools you can do it. It is really easy. I bought a complete set for 40 bucks. Also like mentioned you know you have done it right and gapped correctly. It only took about 40min. Google or youtube "how to". You will save yourself over 200 bucks. Also, these plugs are not like the ones you dealt with that break. I also dealt with that in the past. Also the plugs I got were the new Motorcraft. good luck.

I installed my 2.5 AS kit a month ago in about 4 hrs, front and year. I've done five of those. I do about anything. Just have a few larger projects spread all aver my garage at the moment and figured I'd be lazy and give the dealer an hours labor ($80 ish?).... But not $200. Thanks. Ford plugs good enough? I see these are traditional plugs, not like the 3V delinquents. I actually made sure of that....before I bought another truck.

Just turned 100,000 miles, so I bought a set of Ford plugs. Figured I would change them this week. Strange note on the boxes they are in. "do not gap"

I would still check the gap on them. They can be wrong from the factory.

Maybe they're thinking like the ones used on sport bikes n such, with the ultra tiny electrode that somebody could damage, when gapping, if not careful.

Drivers side takes about 30 minutes, passenger side a little less. That includes the time to get tools out and get a step stool so I can get over fender easily. I'm 6 feet tall but truck is up there too. Way too easy to pay to have them changed.

This is exactly why.
