Nope... even the 55w bulbs burn considerably cooler than halogen bulbs.

Not always....some of the kits that DDM has been putting out run hotter since they are just using 35w bulbs even in the 55w kits. There is a warning now on their website about not using the 55w kits on small enclosures because they can melt things.

If you are gonna do it the right way on a F150 and have to have a 55w, do a retrofit to utilize the discontinued Phillips DL50 bulbs(Aviation)...They will work and they can still be found at around $200 a pair. With a 55w ballast they will put down somewhere around 6000 lumens and be as bright as sunlight on the road.Inside a projector housing with a proper cutoff and proper aiming you will not blind on-coming traffic.

Thanks for the help y'all. I ended up ordering the 35W 6000k High/Low Kit with the regular ballast, I'll be sure to post pics of the finished headlights the kit should be here by Friday.

Now on to my fog lights...

Got the HIDs today, how should I mount the ballast? There's not holes on them anywhere... are they possibly magnetic? I'm at work right now so I can't check.

Guys on www.tahoeyukonforum.com have mentioned repeatedly not to rely only on the velcroe/3m tape. Many had found other wire bundles and zip-tied the ballast to that. You could use in conjunction with the velcroe/3m tape.

Would also recommend getting them as high as possible.

For me fogs I mounted (with 4 zip ties) the ballasts right behind the headlights on a bar that runs under the radiator. You will see it once you take off your headlight. I will have to get some pictures because I have to pull them back off because as I was putting in the headlights I tilted the headlight assemble and the two part HID bulb came apart and hit the concrete thus another set had to be ordered.

Did you get the HI/LO and the relay harness? How did you hook them up for the drivers side? I have tried downloading the instructions but that is the only one that would not come up. I didn't get to op ck it yet up I ran relay to the HI/LO connector and the HI/LO connector to the ballast. Is this what you did? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I assume you are talking about the DDM HIDs? With the hi/lo HID bulbs one of your factory headlight plugs will not be used. I went through this and talked to DDM about it.

I new that I was going to use the passenger side plug to activate the entire system but I bought the relay harness and it has two connectors for each side. I also have the hi/lo bulbs which have their own harness. This one has two also I believe. I just wasnt sure without the instructions which one got plugged into the ballast.

I got the head lights installed and they work great. I'm a little weary of the ballast seeing how there's no way to really attatch them, I feel like the zip ties and adhesive I used will give pretty easily. Anyway, I ordered my fog lights today when I found out they had my bulb size and Ordered the slim ballast.

I'm gonna see how those ballast are and may be ordering a new head light kid with the slim ballast. Is anyone interested in a 35w 6000k Hi/Lo kit for cheap?
