Cost of New F-150s!
Anyone else blown away by the cost of the new F-150s?
I know an increase makes sense because there's more to the new trucks (Aluminum body, 10 speed, etc) as well as cost of inflation, but $10k more for an equivalent model? I bought my 2013 4 years ago for $39,500, pretty well decked out. Looking at new trucks with equivalent features, they're right around $50,000 or so. Now I could downgrade to a new XLT for about the same price I paid, but it wouldn't really be as nice as my current 2013 (no 3.5 ecoboost, leather, upgraded headlights, heated/air conditioned seats, etc).
Although I'd love a nice new truck with next gen features, I think I'm going to stick with my current one for a bit longer. I've got 48k miles with nearly new tires, so I think I've got some more life left in her! Anyone else arrive at the same decision lately?
I also toyed with the idea of a new Tacoma, but my current truck blows it away in terms of features and comfort. Only thing I would gain with that truck would be a bit better mileage and easier parking/maneuvering. I'm going to wait out the release of the new Ranger to see what the market is like then.

Boost :)
You bought it for $39,500 but what was MSRP on that truck?
I'm assuming $50k on new truck is MSRP so what is the apples to apples comparison?
Dealerships here in Austin are still offering great deals off MSRP on most F150's. I'm not sure if the 10 speeds are on those deals yet though.
As an example, my 2013 Platinum had a MSRP of $51,500 or so. I paid just under $40k for it once all was said and done. I am sure the deals are still similar.

As someone who owns a '14 Eco don't ever do that. Downgrade is a huge understatement. Your 6.2 would run circles around my Eco in every conceivable way. I wish I had found a 6.2 when I bought my truck. The Ecohype has been a disappointment in power and fuel economy.

Sticker on mine was $50,675 after package discounts. Since FX4 is no longer its own trim, I would have to get a Lariat with sport appearance and a few other upgrade packages to make it equivalent. I'm using Mac Haik's pricing for comparisons, and they are offering a bit less off than I got on mine (maybe $1-2k less off).
Here's an example, but maybe subtract $1-2k for the special edition package (I've got 20" wheels but not the special package). MSRP of $61.1K: http://www.machaikford.com/new/detai...iat_houston_tx

No one has to pay $50K for a truck unless they just want to. If I were in the market for another one I could buy a 4X4 Screw with all the equipment and power I could possibly need for under $40K.
I don't view the XLT as much of a downgrade. It is already loaded up with expensive, useless, gadgets that just drive up prices. I wouldn't have heated leather seats if they cost less. Wish rubber floor mats were available without special ordering.

I've felt the cringe as well referring to pricing on the F150's. To each their own I guess. I make pretty decent money but it's hard for me to walk into a dealership and try to negotiate a decent price for a $50+ truck. I'm not willing to trade in a high value vehicle or put down a substantial down payment just so I can have a $500 or more monthly payment. If anyone reading this post or on this board that has no problems paying $700 month / 60 months, my hats off too you brother.

wait. what?
the sticker on my truck was $55,935. it's a 2014 King Ranch, luxury package, chrome package, 20" wheels, max tow package, 157" wheelbase 3.5L Ecoboost 4x4. I think the off-road package is the only thing it does not have. my friend bought a 2016 F150 supercrew 145" wheelbase 2.7L 4x4 XLT Sport 302A with 18" wheels and his sticker was $50,xxx. that absolutely blows my mind.
