Cooling system issues…?
Hello all, I have some what I’m hoping are some minor issues going on with my 2013 F150 XLT 5.0. I recently had my water pump go and replaced it, with a higher quality metal impeller model, as the one I removed, possibly could have been the original, but it was a plastic impeller version. Anyway I flushed the system after changing it and put proper fluid in and believe I have all air burped and/or pushed out. However, at least to me, it seems to still run hot, like hotter than I most likely should. It runs around the high 220Fs like 226-228 range, with that the cooling fans are running almost full time once it gets to those temp ranges. With outside temps working their way down, I see the operating temp slowly coming down into the low 220-224 range sometimes as temp here in Western PA is going down more and more in the 60F-70F down from the 70F-85F it was a couple weeks ago. Haven’t seen any leaks. Reservoir has been holding at same level. I just got this particular F150 and it’s my first time having a 5.0 Coyote I’ve had a couple 5.4L trucks in the past, one older 302 in late 80s early 90s and 2 different 1983&1996 300c.i. Straight 6 trucks. So this is a new game for me and it just seems like it shouldn’t be running quite that high, but I could be wrong. Also lastly I even had put a bottle of the Redline brand additive like Water Wetter but Redline’s take on it. Any help with all this very much appreciated. Personally I would have stuck with the OEM replacement from motorcraft. These trucks don't like aftermarket parts. That being said, did you change the thermostat by chance? It's a well known issue these trucks have with aftermarket T-stats to run hotter than they should. Other than that i'd say there is likely still air in the system somewhere. There are some good videos online on how to do it if you're unsure.
id throw in a new ford/motorcraft thermostat and refill. Ive seen people do nothing more than open up the system and the old stock thermostat bites the dust.

I have the same issue, the truck THINKS it is hot when it is not. It is running at 165-169 degrees and it thinks it is at 234 degrees. Either a ground issue or harness issue.
It had no problems, bought used, then 6000 miles later, all at once everything went bonkers when the coolant tank hose blew. Getting rid of the motor-rad thermostat helped a lot.
I got rid of many of the issues with a Motorcraft thermostat AND temperature sensor. The CarQuest sensor Advance sells is both physically and electronically different (higher ohms) then the motorcraft one.
