Default Coolant leak from rear of engine??

So I noticed a spot of fluid on the ground yesterday after the truck sat all night and day. It looks like its leaking from the bellhousing/rear of the engine. Fluid smells sweet and looks more orange than red so I dont think its transmission fluid. I have checked the coolant tank and the hose that connects to it, not leaking from there. Tank was low though. All the temp gauges run normal. I can see it dripping. Any idea what this is?
Truck is a 12 fx4 5.0 with 68k.

My old truck is leaking in this exact spot! Have you found a solution?

If the leak is actually in the back, it is often the engine heater. But, liquid runs all over, mine appeared to be dripping everywhere, but came from the front. Most are either right under the reservoir or from the y-connector between the upper hose and thermostat.

This is truly the weirdest leak. It is one that is coming from the general location of the heater core, but it doesn’t have the indicators on the inside (the smell and haze on the windows). It only seems to leak after sitting for stretches of time -3 days or so. Finally, it doesn’t leak when the system is under pressure.

I meant the engine block heater. But that sounds exactly like mine, which was the o-ring in the y-connector. The fans and motion spray the coolant everywhere, hard to tell where it's actually coming from.

I am assuming that the newer blocks are like the older blocks? Not sure if they are. If so I would say freeze plug which would mean trans has to come out to fix. I would pull the flywheel cover and stick one of those small cameras up there to look at them in the rear of the block.

I had a leak that looked EXACTLY like that... however it was a gasket on the crossover up front leaking and running to the rear. I couldn't even see it. It ultimately lead to a catastrophic failure of the gasket and blew out most of the coolant. Luckily it was a cold day and I was able to limp home and have it repaired.

Found it! Pulled the skid plate off and found the problem. Shouldn’t be too painful of a repair.

Before you spend a bunch...

I spent $10.50 on a handful of gaskets and am set for awhile. (most of it was shipping)
