Traded in a 10 tundra for my 4x4 ecoboost. Toyota has a great product but ford is light years away in technology and comfort. Plus if you buy in a off season Oct-Dec your pretty much guaranteed 10G off + do the math with 10 G off and a tacoma with maybe 3g off at the same time. Math should be about the same.

And in case you learn more through pictures...

I think you have to order the XLT special package in order to get the 3.7 in crew cab configuration? I too have seen 4-door XLT 3.7's - they all had the souped up 4.3in lcd screen in them.

I think you have to find out what you are really looking for in a truck. If it comers down to price, buy the Toyota. If it comes down to comfort, towing capability, performance, looks and manliness - then buy the ford.

Yeah I am hoping for 10k off. Thanks for the reassurance that this is not a unrealistic expectation to have.

Here is something that I just was told that I didn't know. The Ecoboost requires premium fuel???

Is this true???

How about the 5.0, does it require premium also?

I never read that the Ecoboost requires prem fuel.

If fuel mileage and price is a concern then why not go with the 3.7L. A super cab 3.7L STX 4x4 has more room then a 4 door 4x4 Tacoma, more power, more payload capacity, and the same fuel economy all while being within a thousand or so difference in price. The F150 does have less towing capacity with the 3.7 vs the Tacoma V6 towing package. How the Tacoma tows more then the F150(even with the 3.7) having better gearing in the tranny and rear end, a better frame, bigger brakes, and more power is beyond me. I think Ford is being a little too safe on it's towing numbers or Toyota is being very generous.

2012 F150 Scab STX 4x4 6.5" bed / 2012 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4
F150-3.7L VVT (302hp @ 6500rpm & 278ft-lb @ 4000rpm) / Taco-4.0L DOHC (236HP @ 5200rpm & 266ft-lb @4000rpm)
F150-6 speed Automatic Transmission / Taco-5 Speed Automatic Transmssion
MPG(city/hwy): F150-16/21 / Taco-16/21
Payload: F150-1510lbs / Taco-1295lbs
Towing: F150-5500lbs / Taco-6400lbs
Seats: F150-6 / Taco-5
MSRP: F150-$33,135.00 / Taco-$32,155.00

no. Just wondering but don't you think this is an apples/oranges debate? I've had a tundra and a tacoma. Tacoma's are tough, but so was my pathfinder. The thing was so small and inefficient. The Toyota's are good trucks, but the Tacoma is not even in the same category. I like my Fx4 better than my tundra limited. The throttle response is ridiculous on the Toyota 5.7. I am so very happy with the ecoboost. Ford recommends 87 octane for the F150 ecoboost. The fact that it's the2012 MTTotY means something. I know someone mentioned before, but why don't you wait until you are serious. The new dodge comes out Friday, Ford will have something new in 6 months, along with GM. If you really are waiting 6 months, all this is for not.

I may be out of line here but whatever. I build these things for a living and I don't like people comparing a superior product to some foreign hunk of ****! If gas mileage is an issue for you then maybe get another car dude...or just sack up and buy the #1 selling full size pickup and vehicle for that matter for the last 25 years!!! F-150's are light years ahead of the ricer crap. Never thought I'd need to say this on this forum.........

The problem with toyota is they sell us the watered down crap. Hilux can't be bought here nor a base model land cruiser or prado. Tacoma is not equal to Hilux, almost nothing is common.

My wife's 2010 Camry has been in the shop twice for warranty repairs unrelated to acceleration issues. Door panel was falling apart and evaporator core had to be replaced.

No issues with my 11 f150 except it takes up the entire garage. I wish ford sold the new ranger here. Slightly smaller size and turbo diesel would be perfect for me.
