Console swap and HVAC question
I searched on here for for threads but not finding an answer. Im doing the jumpseat to console swap on my 2010 XLT Super Crew. Im putting in the console with the vents that are in the rear of the console. Is is feasible to reroute the HVAC flow from under the seats to blow out the rear console vents? My truck is currently at the body shop from hitting a deer. So I have not been able to tear into it yet. Any ideas or pics?
A review of the parts list shows that the A/C / heater assembly as well as the distribution chamber (top part of assembly) has a different part # dependent upon w/flow thru console | w/o flow thru console. And there's a duct connector for the flow thru console.
So while it would be do-able, it would be a PITA -unless- your repair necessitates dismantling the dash and $$$$ -unless- you could locate a donor (and even then it would be $$$).
Also note that the A/C heater assembly is manual | auto' dependent.

There are several forum members that have successful made the change and have a post in the forum. This one has some info regarding the Hvac duct needed to complete the install.
