Color Keyee Mirror Tips
Hey All,
I just bought a new 2010 silver FX4 Screw. OMG....what a truck. I just wanna drive it forever. Anyway, I didn't want leather, so I opted out of the luxury package. Only thing I don't like is the mirrors are not color keyed tipped. I have been looking for the proper miror covers, but all I can find is chrome.
I am not a chrome guy, so color keyed is my path. Do I have to purchase the full mirror or can I get an add-on?
Thanx Guys.
BTW, I have been reading here for a long time...... Great site.

Hopefully someone here has removed theirs for tow mirrors and wants to sell them......
You said in your original post that you weren't a chrome guy. Change your mind?
Doesn't the plastic piece on top of the mirror come off? If it does, a god painter can paint them for less than $50 dollars. I had a set of Street Scene mirrors on my last truck and had them color matched for around the same price.
You can buy the chrome caps and get them painted. I have had all the chrome bits on my roadster painted to match the custom car color. Most of the parts are plastic that is chromed, much like the mirror covers. They sand the chrome off, prime it, color coat it, clear it and color polish it. Mine have been painted for 2 years and look like the day they came out of the shop.
The door handles were chrome, now painted Punisher red. The wheels were chrome and black, now painted to match. You can get just about anything painted with proper preparation. For my dash and door panels, since they are flexible plastic, the painter added a special additive that makes the finished color and clear layers maintain their flexibility. Works great.

I painted mine using Duplicolor from Autozone. It took lots of sanding and patience. They came out great, but I need to redo them again due to overgrown trees here on these narrow roads beating them to death.
Thanx for all the suggestions guys. I know a good painter, so I will call him up and ask. I gotta do something and I really dont' want to do chrome if I can avoid it.
