generally an intake/tune/exhaust as a combination will help increase power and mileage. if you can keep your foot out of it after you add all that.

I had a 2002 silverado w/ 5.3L. I bought it with a borla cat bat on it. I added a k&N cold air. didnt really see any mileage increase.

added a custom tune, and the thing flew like a bat out of hell and got 17mpg on the highway going 70-75 with 35's!!!! had 3.73 gears. around town driving like an idiot still managed to get 14-15.

Tunes really open up an engine if done right.
