Unhappy Clearcoat Peeling!

Quick question...Anyone else noticing/experiencing this?

I was recently doing some work under my truck, and while sliding under the passenger side, I found the clear coat peeling off in one area. The pics are of pax side, on the box, in front of the rear wheel well.

I went to the dealer and they took their own pics, and supposedly submitting to Ford. Still waiting for a response.

The large white bubbles are spots of clear coat bubbling up ready to peel; the white "ring" is a spot where it already came off; and obviously the piece "hanging" is ready to peel off.

Yup, I've seen/repaired a few. More common on the trucks that have the gravel guard on the bottoms of the doors and box. Which yours does have. Must be a delamination problem with Ford's gravel guard. Should be under the 3/36k warranty, as long as you're within it.

Unfortunately... unless he bought his really late.... he's probably out of the 3yr (he's got a '10). I have similar on mine and have been watching it closely. Hasn't gotten any worse and I haven't seen any spread of it.

Ah... I can't see signatures as I'm on my phone 99% of the time on here. Yeah, that would be out of warranty

Yep. Def over the 3 yr 36K mark. Sucks that Ford would have the thought, "expect your paint and/or clear coat to last only 3 years".

Mileage should be irrelevant since it's easily possible to do 36K in a single year, and store your truck in a garage each night.

The paint and rubber trim on these trucks is garbage. I have bubbling paint on a door panel, here in AZ where it rains 1 inch a year! Thanks ford.

You should see the local police cars- all of the white paint has peeled off, and they look like gateway computer boxes... Down to bare metal.

1 inch of rain? Rain isn't the most damaging thing to paint and rubber, UV rays and sun are. Especially Ford's crown vics, which I'm assuming are your police cars? All of that on those cars was under warranty. I have about 20 of those paint jobs under my belt

My 2012 ingot silver started peeling on the hood. Dealer didn't want to redo the whole hood, so I traded for a new 2013 they still had on the lot. I don't think the paint is one of the strong points of these trucks.
