Default Chrome side molding

Has anyone tried to remove the side chrome molding from a platinum and also the tailgate metal piece, I am considering the Black, I would prefer thr FX4 but the only way to get cooled seats is the platinum ( live in texas and in the truck all day and tired of sweat on back when getting out of the truck)
My intent is the black everything out but concerned about holes in the side due to the moldings
I was also considering the Grey but they do not make that in a a lariet only FX4 and platinum, I just do not care for the chrome on the side

Thanks

I read somewhere that people in Texas have been having issues with the tailgate metal piece with it coming lose due to the heat? Not sure if they would have any insight on that in what they found underneath? Not sure if that was a defect that a few people were having or not... I hope that it's not a widespread problem as I want to get a Platinum myself. An all blacked out Platinum would look pretty cool though. If you do it please post pics. Heck, even if you don't ,post pics! Platinum's are awesome looking trucks. Looking forward to the intel you receive on this.

Personally I can't stand the interior of the Platinum. King Ranch also has cooled seats, does it not? At least it does here in Canada... and I think cooled seats probably makes way more sense in Texas

I hear you, my current Expy has the heated/cooled seats, and they are great in the summer. And if you buy a black truck, you will really need them, LOL.

But, I ordered them on my new Lariat, no problem.

Here is the page in the current dealer order book that proves it, go all the way to the bottom.

The tailgate coming loose could be just a texas thing since our heat has been around 105 with a heat index of around 115, we had a high presure right above texas almost all summer and let me tell you I do not rmember it being this hot ever.
I can find a lariet with heated and cooled seats in 4X4 but ford does not offer the darker grey in a lariet 4X4 only Fx4 and platinum in a 4x4, I went to ford's website and tried to build since I was not sure the dealer was acurate and sure enough no Grey lariet
I would not mind a grey or Black but I just do not want the side moldings

The Black would be awesome but really concerned about the up keep of the color

One way to remove things like that, is to use a strong fishing line- wiggle it under one corner, then use it like a saw, back and forth, to cut the 2-sided tape holding on the item. There will be sone glue/foam left behind, you can loosen that with a hair drier, or varsol/acrysol/gas. If using a hair drier (NOT a heat gun), be gentle as the heat will soften the clear coat if it gets too hot.

Re: Platinum interior- for me, it was that interior that put me into my Plat- I liked that much more than the Lariat version, and everything else being the same (I know, its not), that was the main reason I walked away from the Lariat.

your mileage may vary.
