Chipmunk damage to wiring. Need help identifying harness.
Heard the dogs carrying on and went outside to find them going nuts under my 2014 F150 I inherited from my father.
They had a chipmunk cornered under there and between the dogs and the chipmunk, my wiring harness took a beating.
I am not a car guy. Need help knowing how to identify this harness, and where to go to find a replacement.
Or am I better off having it towed to a dealership?
Harness is very possibly discontinued from Ford. Most harnesses for our trucks are. Of the 6 or 8 harnesses listed for a 2014 (it's vin specific) only 2 of them appear to still be available. Hopefully you will luck out and your is one still available. Regardless, since you say you are not a car guy, I would strongly recommend having the truck looked at by a professional. That harness runs up over top of the transmission, up the firewall and along the right side over to where the PCM is mounted.
If you live in a large metro area, you can probably buy that harness from a private seller on craigslist or facebook, who has totalled their vehicle, for about $100.00. If they have already sold the engine and transmission and are looking to now scrap metal it, they will not refuse $100.00.
I scrapped a 1976 (?) Alfa Romeo and a guy from Kenya ended up buying all the misc. stuff including the harness. He then asked if I had any trim screws and knowing he was sending this back in his luggage I just told him to take whatever else he wanted for free since he already spent so much with me. So, he got emblems, chrome mouldings, screws, and all the stuff he could never buy in Kenya without ordering it from out of country$. So, when you are there, feel free to ask for other things or make an offer. Most reasonable adults will give a person buying stuff right in front of them, a good deal.
Hopefully you have not tried to start the vehicle, so, no wires are yet fried or fuses blown. Disconnect the battery.
