I just had a cherry bomb 87522cb muffler put on my truck today, and it is really loud, louder than I imagine it would.. My question is anybody else using one and do you ever get use to the noise level. It does sound good though, I have to admit.

And cherry bombs are just loud anyway, they're cheap and not designed to do much per sé.

 

Perhaps a muffler referred to as "cherry bomb" might have been a clue regarding the noise level?

You think it is loud now, what until the glass blows out then it will be loud.
You bought a straight through muffler that is basically an Expansion chamber and you want to know what do to quiet it down, put a muffler of some sort on it. I had a 351 4v Cleveland in my 73 Cougar that had a custom set of headers that went in to 4 3 inch pipes and had a Cherry Bomb on each set of for a total of 4 and it was still louder heck so good luck

 

I would recommend taking the cherry bomb off and putting a Vibrant ultra quiet resonator in it's place. I recently installed one on my truck and was very happy with it. It's straight through like the cherry bomb, but actually muffles the sound a good bit. It's a bit more than the cherry bomb, though, at $100, but much better constuction and function. You know, you get what you pay for.

 

what motor? Info helps us. If you have a 5.0L, keep the resonator and loose the muffler. It sounds great. Other motors? I cant help
