Default Carpet delete floor mat options?

I recently purchased a 2011 STX supercab 4X4 and was wondering what mats are the best for the smooth vinyl floor. I was thinking about trimming some thick house carpet. Any ideas? I am OK with rubber mats as long as someone knows a trick to keep them in place with putting holes in the floor.

Thanks,
Steve

P.S. This 5.0 motor rips.

I ordered vinyl mats in my 2010 Screw. Weathertech and Husky don't want you to use their mats on a vinyl floor. I picked up a set of the Ford Rubber mats that come in FX4s (I believe). They have worked great! They don't move at all in the back as the mat is so big and in the front they are fine because they are made to fit our trucks' floor. I think they were less than $110. Don't hesitate for a second.

I used just autozone rubber mudder mats, and the slide like hell... but I grabbed some non-slip stuff that you put in kitchen drawers under utensil containers, or in tool cabinets to keep your tools from sliding around... stuck them under the mats and they stay in place like nobody's business... I'd imagine you could use the same non-skid stuff underneath the weathertech or husky mats and they would be just fine.

i had an 08 sport trac with vynal floor and loved it! It had little pegs sticking up to hold the floormats in place, as does my carpeted floor f150. I got aries front floormats and they had a spot for the cutout for that clip. If the stx has that little floormat holder like the lariats do you should be good to go! Otherwise hobbes advice sounds good.

Like others that have posted, I like / prefer the vinyl flooring. However, for the front I wanted something that ...
  • would contain sand, dirt, mud, snow, slush ( snow+salt ), etc..
  • wouldn't / couldn't move around.
  • looked decent.
Opted for an after-market floorliner ...

*Maker's pic'.

Since there are no mat hooks on the floor of the STX, I fabricated a bracket to hold the floorliners in place ...
  • crafted out of aluminum sheet metal ( will not rust ).
  • drilled a hole in one end so that it could be slipped between outer seat bracket and the floor, and anchored using the seat bolt.
  • drilled a hole in the other end, and inserted a LARGE pushpin. *The hole and pushpin align with the floorliners' mat hook hole ( had to drill a hole in the RH / passenger floorliner ).
  • bent the bracket to conform to the contours of the floor.

The floorliners catch all the crud, and the brackets hold 'em in place.

Default Something new I am trying

I ended up going with a set of tractor trailer mud flaps. They are very heavy, thick, plenty large (will need to trim) and inexpensive at $13 each. Both sides are smooth and if I need to add "traction" or channels for mud/dirt on top of the mat I can use my friends tire groover. I got a 3rd mat I am going to split in half for the super cab mats.
