Default capless fuel filler sucks

Hi, I've got a 2010 super cab and I hate the capless fuel filler! when did the switch over to that? so, the question is could I retrofit an older filler neck with a cap, and who else has the problem of the fuel door not staying closed? Thanks

If yours will not stay closed, it has a broken spring. Happened to my 2010 as well. Very easy fix and the part is just over $50. Took me maybe 30 minutes to repair. You get a new complete hinge and your existing door snaps off and onto the new one.

Default capless fuel filler sucks

There is a thread on here to fix it yourself, just use the search bar in our forum. Do not pay $50 when you can fix it yourself which sounded very easy if I recall.
But no issues with the capless system here & love it.
For those who really want a cap, they DO make locking caps...

Doesn't work. However, mine was repaired by changing the air filter and using about 4 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil. Not sure switch one did the trick since I did both within 5 minutes. I suspect the Marvel Oil did the trick. I've used it for 40+ years, just like my dad and the Bentley restoration gurus and it works for many issues. Now the fuel filler inlet error is GONE. Maybe I should have used Marvel Oil in my crankcase prior to my engine failure (Value part took a dump and sprinkled confetti throughout) and subsequent replacement at 90K miles.
