Would anyone else here try to patch in and solder up three new wires before spending $230 per harness? I would!

I patched many of them but they always break again or the other wires break. They are simply crappy wires or design. We are fortunate that they are replaceable. If you have the models that do not have separate harnesses then you have no choice but to repair. At the dealer level you dont want to make a repair that has repeated comeback repairs. Since he has the cheaper non heated seat harnesses he might as well replace them for sure.

The picture I posted was of the left side door. Since I already had both sides, I replaced both harnesses. When I got to the right side, it had 1 wire completely separated and several with cracked insulation. I had made repairs on this harness less than 2 years ago. The breaks were all on wires I had already repaired. The insulation becomes very brittle and just won't stand up to all the bending from opening and closing the door. Once the harness was out, I tested some of the wires by bending about 90° and back straight. Every one of the smaller gauge wires cracked after 2 or 3 bends. The wires in the new harnesses are much more flexible.
