I have also heard this. Mine came with no scratches or marks, they have many now thanks to a careless construction crew not cleaning gravel off the freeway . However another forum member who ordered his at the same time, from the same person, received his order with a bulb out and the wrong color pipe, and yes scratches on his housing. I chalked it up to being a new company error or shipping issues, and since mine came perfect I payed no true mind to it.
With any company you will have happy customers and unhappy ones. The true test of a great company is how they handle the unhappy customers. I would assume that since they are still up and running that they have fixed any QC issues but I couldn't tell you one way or another. Mine are over a year old after all .
To answer your question of would I do it again? Well as it would seem I'm in the market for a F350 here within the next few months and I was going to order some lights from them again. With more custom options this time. I will be doing the same checking you are at the time I'm ready to order since Its been so long since I've ordered...Most likely I'll be selling my headlights for around $500 or so to my old boss, buddy, or anyone really. Don't want to charge more since they are a little scratched and they are used at this point.
Looking into have Bilinvic's couldn't hurt either. He does awesome work. Always helps to support forum members too
I purchased my set through TLF. It took a while (they are busy) but I finally received them earlier this month. I had the Evox-R retrofit done and they perform great except for a few cosmetic blemishes. TLF (aka All Star Auto Lights) reconditions used/like new units so most customers will not be receiving brand new.
I don't have any experience with TLF headlights but I'm very pleased with their 2015-style LED tail lights. They turned out great and as far as I can tell, they used brand new housings. Their customer service and communication were excellent throughout the build process, but be prepared to wait several weeks until your order is on the bench (once that happens your build is done in a few days). I can't speak to the quality issues previously mentioned, but I do know they just moved into a brand new facility so hopefully that will translate into better products and fewer QC issues.
