Can a car wash cause this, or?

That would also be one big idiot if they tried to break in through the door mirror
My guess is that someone clipped your mirror somewhere and f**ked it up..

That's what I thought as well. I pushed real hard on the passenger side and it did not even budge.
No damage to the mirror it self so I don't think it was hit by another car in a parking lot or something similar.
Just looked again and there is no way that happened by the mirror getting hit by anything. You can see where the 2 bolts attach it to the truck as they are now dimpled in.
However there is no damage where it has pulled away either. WTF?

Even crack heads know you break into a Ford with an ice pick/screw driver easily punched though the plastic door handle surrounde., so I vote auto car wash roller brush or hit in parking lot.

I think if it were in the car wash you would have heard it as it would take quite a hit to do that, I am leaning toward brush in lot. Maybe someone shoulder bumped it or fell into to and grabbed it. It would take a bit of torque to pull it like that.

I don't think it was hit at all. It's warped and likely from a Car Wash that over heated the water. Ice cold pastic with super heated water sprayed on it = WARPED plastic.
I NEVER EVER use an auto car wash. They are so prone to damaging your vehicle that they have disclaimers posted everywhere. My friend worked at a station with one and regularly saw mirrors ripped off and even fender damage. The owner would do nothing but point at the disclaimer.
When getting new mirrors, see if you can get the 2013 Tow Mirrors, they are really nice and so much better looking than the 2009 - 2012 Tow mirrors and even offer signals on the back of the mirror. Same tow mirrors as the Super Duties. If those are the mirrors I could install on my 2012, I'd have to rethink about purchasing them.
