Most of the time it's the camera but you can not rule out wiring or the sync shout 9 times out of 10 it's the camera

Mine did that a while ago when ford replaced my tailgate camera. I think mine was a software issue.

Maybe a master reset will work I hate My touch Sync

Since your are out of warranty, you might want to check a couple of things before ordering a new camera.

#1, Check the camera quick disconnect at the tailgate, clean it with contact cleaner if needed. Remember to add dielectric grease if you do clean it.

#2, crawl under the truck at check the wiring harness, make sure it is not damaged

#3, Pull the SYNC fuse (I think it's #20, check your manual for the right one)

#4, try a full power cycle. Disconnect the negative terminal at the battery for a minimum of 15 minutes.

If you do need to replace the camera, it's Part# BL3Z-19G490-B

And if you do replace the camera you also need the Ford emblem that sits over the camera. I have not been able to remove one with out damaging it yet. It has clips that break and tape that sticks it to the truck.
