It's ONLY if you are selling it and making a profit.
You can GIVE it to a friend, co worker (or even a forum member) and since it is free, how is it a copyright infringement?

With all due respect, first learn the difference between a copyright and a trademark. Then educate yourself on the elements necessary to to prevail when bringing infringement claims. I will give you a hint. It is not the creation of the art, but how the art is used and if that use would create confusion in the marketplace.
The use of the BMW roundel by your club implies an endorsement of the club by BMW. A KC Royal logo or a BMW roundel background image, found for free on the internet, used in your personal dash does not meet the same test.

Darn you JP Mewley! I was perfectly content with both of these (they alternate in my truck) until I saw some of your personalized work. Think you could do "C.M. Tucker, LtCol Retired" on one, or both of these? Thanks much in advance!! Keep up the great work!!

So..... If you decide to get a piece of paper & draw the logo... That's copyright infringement?????
It's ONLY if you are selling it and making a profit.

FWIW, the BMW club (~ 35 or 40k members & non profit) forum discussed their new club logo forever as many disliked it and on ad infinitum...It had formerly incorporated the Roundel circular logo with 2 white/2 blue quadrants that symbolized a propeller. It wasn't about selling the roundel logo and get real-it sure wasn't about guys sitting in study hall ( or using a guvment job to doodle) and drawing the logo. It was only about that fact that you could not "use it" (as in PERIOD!) on a club sticker, T shirt and so on. Their are two BMW MC clubs and neither them nor anyone else is allowed to use it.
Logic tells you that no ;lawyers are gonna come knocking over a screen logo with HD on it unless it's being sold.
I was just having some fun with the HD logo idea as a rider of another brand machine (I have 5 and various brands)and that I know to be legal and healthy- having a laugh, that is!
And the truth is many BMW riders either own now or used to ride HD's or others. Yes, if there's a KC Royals fan or Chiefs fan out there that has done a logo that can be applied to my XLT screen I'm interested.
The sun is up and bright here, for a change!!!
