Ammo
Where do you live that you have to finger print for ammo? I fly back from the south with ammo and get ammo shipped to my house no problem

Was going to purchase an SCT Tuner but I still have the powertrain warranty until 100k and have been hearing a noise but no noticeable drop in oil psi, temp or anything else. Don't want to have to buy a new short block out of pocket because I could not afford it, so will have to wait to buy a tuner.

California Legal Tuners (LOL, I know)
I had a Hypertech programmer on my last '98 F150 and not once did I ever remove it for smog and it passed every time. So, if it stated that it is CARB legal, throw the sticker on there so they can see that and it should be good to go. It also had an airaid intake that was carb approved and it never had any problems. As many others have said, you'll be fine. The tuner plugs in, downloads the tune and is unplugged and put away if you ever did need to check something or remove the tune. One of these CARB approved tunes may not be as noticeable/powerful as the custom tunes, but each one has its own pros and cons.
