Neat looking setup.

The only thing it doesn’t do that the factory ones in the Heritage era and aluminum trucks do is filter the air that’s in the cab itself.

Dust is shed skin, hair and plenty of other stuff you carry into the cab, after all.

Yeah this is part of what my complaint is in the other thread the user posted it in.
The filter needs changing at least once a year, and taking out the wiper assembly to change it is an utter PITA - it's only filtering outside air, not internal air, as you say, and because it's very external, it has a lot more crap getting caught in it too.

I've been contemplating this kit for some time. The company offers a more thorough install video:

I've been aggravated by the rather low volume of air coming out of my registers with the fan on max; on scorching hot days when I first get into the truck and I'm sweating bullets, and the AC is just not cool enough, the low air flow is just doesn't cut it; my gf's tiny KIA Soul's fan can out blow it. Is anyone else experiencing this low air flow from their HVAC at full blast?

Anwways, I was searching for similar complaints and came across a thread where the OP had to clean out a bunch of twigs, leaves and other stuff from under the cowl.

Which then led me to the Infinity filter kit to keep that area free of junk. Yea, it may be a PITA to replace, but since I offroad alot, this filter should also keep out the rampant dust and dirt that gets everywhere and covers everything. It's just another on my long list of things to add to my truck...

Augster, did you fix that low flow issue then? Mine doesn't seem low flow on full blast, is your fan blower ok? If you're offroading a lot, maybe it's all jammed up with dirt/dust?

The filter will slow down the flow when new, they even mention that, but more importantly, as it gets dirty, it will slow further, so for sure fix that first.

Someday I'm gonna tear out the cowl to inspect and clean out that cavity.

If that doesn't do it, then I'm going to replace the blower fan motor, CL1Z-19805-A; some coin at $145 street price. I've already replaced the blower motor resistor when I was having problems with the blower motor coming on when truck goes into sleep mode.

Yeah, if anything, that install video was very helpful in seeing how and where to get at the intake ducting, my truck was used in field areas before i owned it, and i know the interior had a lot of dust/dirt cleaned out, so i suspect my intake needs cleaning too.

Augster, What was the size of the filter.... it looks to be about 7 x 7?

With it so small, it seems like it would be wise to replace it more than once a year, so how long would it take to replace the filter?

I have no idea, but I think it's probably a 4x4 filter after pulling my cowl grilles and examining the cavity; it's definitely smaller than 7x7:

I found no debris whatsover, and a scant coating of dust: I can just feel a fine coat of dust, but there's not enough to leave a thick layer on my skin. I'm experiencing relatively low HVAC fan volume and I was hoping it was due to junk clogging the inside of this cavity. Alas, that wasn't the case and I have to keep hunting for the culprit; it looks like I probably have to replace the HVAC fan entirely.

Anyways, all the way at the end of cavity on the passengers' side is what appears to be the front wall of a plastic plenum into the cabin, maybe 10 inches long and the full height of the cavity, at the very top of which is a grated weir, about an inch tall: I assume this is the HVAC outside air inlet. Water and debris would have to pile up at least 3-4" inside the cavity before it could spill above the weir into that plenum.

After giving it further thought, I think an air filter inside this cavity as designed by Infinity would probably be a bad idea because it's completely open to water draining into the cavity from the windshield or directly through the cowl grill, soaking the filter and thereby potentially damaging it or leading to rot.
